Professor Akbar Gives Commentary on Economic Outlook of Eurozone
15/05/2012
Yusaf Akbar, an associate professor of management and international business at Central European University Business School, describes what many are calling “the Eurozone crisis” as not a crisis at all, but a “process of adjustment.”
He writes in commentary for the web site of Dukascopy, a Swiss FOREX bank, that, “I would not necessarily characterize this situation as a 'crisis,' rather a necessary process of adjustment for the Eurozone, given the fact that some countries entered the Eurozone not having met all the convergence criteria.”
Dr. Akbar shares his outlook on the long- and short-term economic situation in the Eurozone, along with other insights. He writes that in the long-term, “the Eurozone will rebound, as the economic fundamentals remain strong.” And in the short term, “the political cost of failure means that the Eurozone will continue to finance the debts of Greece, whilst extracting concessions from the Greek government.”
