Yusef Akbar joined the CEU Business School as an associate professor of Management and International Business in YEAR, and became the director of MBA program’s in 2008.
Akbar has taught at universities and business schools all over the world, including University of Michigan, Stockholm School of Economics, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Queen’s University, Canada, European Business School, London, ISM Paris, University of Warsaw and University of Montenegro. His main research interests are international trade and investment, management development in Central and East Europe, and non-market strategies of emerging-market multinationals.

György Bőgel is professor of business management, and teaches courses on organizational behavior, outsourcing and entrepreneurship. He also participates in many projects at the school’s executive education unit. His main research interest is the influence of technological development on management structures and processes.

Eric Brown

Eric Brown is a philosopher who works on ethical issues, including business ethics, bioethics, and meta-ethical theory. He has a background in both analytic and Continental traditions of philosophy, and the history of philosophy. Brown was a junior fellow at the Institut für die Wissenschaften vom Menschen in Vienna and Gastwissenschaftler at the August Herzog Bibliothek, Wolfenbüttel, Germany reseaching pre-Kantian early modern philosophy of law and conceptions of cosmopolitanism. His current research projects include examining the relations of attitudes, values and reasons, and the role of fiduciary duties in business ethics.

Krisztina Büti is a Senior Lecturer of Finance at CEU Business School. She holds a CFA charter, an MBA from the State University of New York at Albany and an MA in Economics from Corvinus University. Prior to joining CEU BS she has held management positions in corporate financial advisory and fund management at Creditanstalt Investment Bank and Concorde Aquila Corporate Finance.  She teaches corporate finance, financial statement analysis, financial modeling, valuation, mergers and acquisitions, investments and business macroeconomics courses.  Her current research focuses on corporate governance theory and the evolution of CG norms and practices in Central and Eastern Europe.

Zoltán Buzády is an assistant professor of management and organization at the CEU Business School. He has a BA in law from the London School of Economics, an MBA from Cass Business School, London, and a Ph.D. in Strategy and Organization from the Corvinus University in Budapest. He has taught at the University of Passau, Mannheim-ESSEC, Corvinus University. He also has worked as a business consultant and in numerous management coaching projects.

Joy Chan delivers various EMBA Finance core courses and electives at the CEU Business School where she serves as an adjunct faculty member.  Joy is currently a visiting Finance professor to many European universities and has been invited by corporations and banks to deliver many executive education training programs. Joy bridges academic studies with relevant and insightful illustrations gleaned from her industry experiences in senior governmental positions in the Inland Revenue Singapore and Ministry of Trade & Industry, Singapore and more recently, Regional Controller in KPMG Central & Eastern Europe.  Joy holds a Masters of Commerce (Finance), with Merit from University of Sydney, Australia and Bachelor of Business (Upper class honors) from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Jay Fogelman

Jay Fogelman has more than thirty years of hands-on business experience, including over twenty-five in IT services and related fields. He has held regional, intercontinental and global management positions with the Amdahl Corporation, EMC Corporation and SAS Scandinavian Airlines. 

He is an experienced consultant, executive coach, project manager and a trained and seasoned facilitator. He has lectured and consulted on five continents. In particular, he has delivered sales training and coaching for some of the world’s largest technology companies across Europe and America.

He managed EMC’s business consulting practice for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
He holds a BA in Philosophy with Special Honors from Lake Forest College, and an MA in Philosophy of of Science from the Johns Hopkins University.
He is the Business School's representative in the CEU Senate.

Peter Hardi has been a professor of business ethics and corporate social responsibility at the CEU Business School and the Director of the Center for Business and Society since joining the faculty in 2006. His current research focuses on the role of business in society and the interaction with major social partners and on the linkage between resource management and social outcomes, particularly the efficiency and sustainability of resource use in CEE and Central Asia. As director of the Center for Business and Society, Hardi heads several research projects dealing with corporate ethics and sustainable business practices.

Hogan Hayes has been teaching first-year composition in multinational/multicultural classrooms at the CEU Business School since 2004. His research interests include the role of English composition and rhetoric in multicultural higher education and the process of gaining entry into established discourse communities. Hayes received his MA in English from the University of California, Davis.

Laura Ipacs got her MBA from the Imperial College Business School in London, UK. She then qualified as a Certified Accountant (ACCA) while working with Coopers and Lybrand in Corporate Finance. Then she worked for multinational companies such as DuPont and Hasbro as a finance director for several years. She started teaching as a career in 2003 and lectures in finance and accounting at the CEU Business School. She also regularly teaches professional accountancy exam and development courses in Europe and in China.

Dr. Maciej Kisilowski received his master in law degree from Yale Law School, M.P.A. in economics and public policy from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, and M.B.A. with distinction from INSEAD. He also holds Ph.D. in law and M.A. with distinction from Warsaw University and is currently completing a doctorate in legal science at Yale. His research interests include the theory of regulation and public management. He has taught at Yale University as well as at Warsaw University College of Technology and Business. He has consulted numerous public and nonprofit organizations, including the Secretariat-General of the European Commission, Committee for Economic Development (Washington D.C.), and the Offices of the President and the Prime Minister of Poland.

Paul Lacourbe is an associate professor of operations management. His research interests involve management of product innovation and product positioning, with a particular focus on the psychological aspects of sustainability in product design. His work has appeared in Production and Operations Management, Current Issues of Business and Law, Revue Française de Gestion. Lacourbe holds a PhD from INSEAD and has taught at ESSEC in Paris.

Nathan Lemons has been teaching Statistics and Maths Modelling at the CEU Business school since the fall of 2008. He has also taught at the University of Memphis. He received his Bachelors degree in Mathematics from Oberlin College and his PhD from CEU. Beginning in 2010 Nathan will also be a postdoctoral researcher at the Rényi Institute of Mathematics in Budapest.

Paul Marer has been a professor of international business for more than 30 years. He joined the CEU Business School in 2000, after having taught at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business since 1975. He holds a PhD in International Economics from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and an honorary doctorate from Budapest University of Economic Sciences. He was appointed by three consecutive US presidents—George Bush Sr., Bill Clinton and George Bush Jr.—to serve on the board of trustees for the Hungarian-American Enterprise Fund, a $78 million fund from the US government to promote private enterprise in Hungary. He has wrote or edited 20 books and 150 articles and chapters, mainly on the changing political, economic and business situation in Hungary, the other transitioning countries of Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and China.

After simultaneously working as Strategist in an Investment Bank for 11 years, and Assistant Professor of Finance and Econometrics for 4 years in Turkey, he joined CEU Business School.
He was awarded Honorary Mention in an international research contest by Istanbul Stock Exchange in 2001, and prize for high-ranked international journal publication by the Turkey's Scientific Research Council in 2009.
He is a very active researcher on Financial Markets. He teaches International Finance, Capital Markets & Investments, Forecasting Financial Markets, Quantitative Methods and Business Economics at CEU Business School.

Jean-Michel Viola received his PhD in Business Administration from HEC Montreal (Canada) after a MBA from UQAM (Canada) and a B.Sc. in Economics from Paris 2 University. Prior to joining CEU, he worked as a professor at HEC Montreal and Rennes School of Business in France and for JP Morgan bank in Paris. Viola has taught business management at all levels and has run various executive seminars in Canada, Europe, Africa and Asia. His research deals with the challenges associated with knowledge issues in the management of strategic alliances, the management of intellectual capital, business models in emerging industries, and the management of innovation and creation.

Christopher Walsch

Christopher Walsch teaches international relations, European integration, economic history, and a specialized course on the Middle East and North Africa. Walsh holds a Mag.Phil in history and a Ph.D. in social and economic history from the University of Vienna, an MA in International Relations and European Studies from Central European University, and a M.Sc. in Development Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London. He has taught at Cornivus University in Budapest and at Eszterhazy Karoly College in Eger, Hungary. Walsh Publications are in the fields of European integration, modern and contemporary East Central Europe, and on development and development policy.
